移築した板倉を活用し、住宅と店舗を兼ねた空間として再生した住まいです。

もともとの板倉が持つ力強い構造と素材の魅力を活かしながら、新たな用途に合わせて再建築しました。落ち着いた雰囲気と、住まいとしての性能を両立させるため、空間構成や素材の使い方、断熱性・気密性に配慮をしています。

構造材には、もともとの古材をすべて使用しています。長い年月を経た木材は、乾燥や締まりによって強度が増し、独特の風合いも持っています。その古材を骨格として大胆に活かすことで、重厚感と安心感をもたらしています。一方で、仕上げや造作材には新材も取り入れ、古材との絶妙なコントラストが落ち着いた空間を生み出しました。

壁の仕上げには、お客様ご自身が珪藻土を塗り、柔らかな質感が加わることで、室内全体に温もりと個性が生まれました。既製品では出せない質感が、古材の風合いとも調和し、より一層の味わい深さをつくり出しています。

古材の存在感と、珪藻土のやわらかな質感、新材とのコントラストが絶妙に重なり合い、訪れる人にとっても心が落ち着く住まいとなりました。

本事例は、古民家移築の可能性を広げる一例です。板倉という小規模な建物を活かしながら、増築や機能性という価値を付加することで、素材の魅力と現代の暮らしを両立させた住まいとなっています。

This home was created by repurposing a relocated itakura storehouse into a combined residential and commercial space.

While preserving the powerful structure and material character of the original itakura, the building was reconstructed to suit its new purpose. In order to achieve both a calm atmosphere and the performance required for modern living, careful attention was given to the spatial layout, the use of materials, as well as thermal insulation and airtightness.

All of the original reclaimed timber was reused for the structural framework. Timber that has aged over many years gains strength through drying and tightening, while also developing a distinctive texture and character. By making bold use of this old wood as the building’s framework, the space conveys both solidity and a sense of reassurance. At the same time, new materials were incorporated into the finishes and built-in elements, creating an exquisite contrast with the reclaimed wood and resulting in a calm, refined interior.

For the wall finish, the owner personally applied diatomaceous earth plaster, adding a soft texture that brings warmth and individuality to the entire interior. This handcrafted finish, impossible to achieve with mass-produced materials, harmonizes beautifully with the character of the reclaimed wood and creates an even deeper sense of richness.

The strong presence of the reclaimed timber, the gentle texture of the diatomaceous earth plaster, and the contrast with the new materials come together in perfect balance, creating a home that brings a sense of calm to all who visit.

This project is one example of the possibilities of kominka relocation. By making use of a small-scale structure such as an itakura and adding new value through expansion and enhanced functionality, it has become a home that successfully balances the appeal of traditional materials with the needs of contemporary living.
