飛騨の古民家を新たな土地で再建築した、古民家移築の別荘です。

古民家移築では、建物そのものだけでなく、「どのような立地に、どう建てるか」が大切です。本計画では、自然に囲まれ、最高の眺望を活かせる傾斜地に、古民家の魅力を組み合わせることを意識しました。

敷地は高低差のある斜面であったため、「懸け造り」を採用しています。懸け造りとは、ジャングルジム状の柱と貫で建物を支えることで傾斜地に対応する日本の伝統的な建築方法であり、地形を活かした設計が可能になります。これにより、外観としての迫力と、最高の眺望が生まれています。

また、移築においては、古民家ならではの価値を損なわないよう、柱や梁といった構造材はもちろん、床板やカウンターなどにも古材をふんだんに使用しました。古材特有の風合いは、新材では再現できない深みがあり、空間全体に落ち着きと重厚感を与えています。

ウッドデッキからは遠くの山々を一望でき、四季折々の自然を身近に感じられます。朝夕で移り変わる景色や光の変化は、日常に豊かさをもたらし、この立地だからこそ実現できる大きな魅力です。

This is a relocated traditional kominka villa, rebuilt on a new site using a historic farmhouse from Hida.

In kominka relocation, it is important to consider not only the building itself, but also where and how it is rebuilt. In this project, we focused on combining the charm of a traditional house with a sloped site surrounded by nature, making the most of its exceptional views.

Because the site was on a hillside with significant changes in elevation, we adopted kake-zukuri construction. Kake-zukuri is a traditional Japanese building method used on sloping land, in which the structure is supported by a framework of interlocking columns and horizontal beams, resembling a jungle gym. This approach allows the design to work in harmony with the natural terrain. As a result, the house achieves both a striking exterior presence and outstanding panoramic views.

In addition, great care was taken during the relocation process to preserve the unique value of the kominka. Not only were the main structural members, such as the pillars and beams, carefully reused, but reclaimed timber was also extensively incorporated into elements such as the flooring and counters. The distinctive texture and character of aged wood provide a depth that cannot be recreated with new materials, giving the entire space a sense of calmness and dignity.

From the wood deck, one can enjoy sweeping views of the distant mountains and experience the changing beauty of nature throughout the seasons. The shifting scenery and light from morning to evening bring richness to everyday life and are among the greatest attractions that only this location can offer.

In kominka relocation, the balance of structure, finish, and site is essential. In this project, the use of kake-zukuri construction, together with extensive reuse of old timber, brings out the full appeal of traditional kominka living while making the most of the sloped terrain.
